BUYING GOLF CLUBS FOR YOUR KIDSChildren will have a hard time trying to learn on an adult-sized set of clubs, and should not use a cutoff set of adult clubs because the shafts will be too stiff. A child-specific starter-set will offer the following design features: Undersized grips because children have smaller hands and need narrower grips. Starter sets are usually sized for children under 10, for pre-teens and then for teenagers. The weight will be light enough to be swung easily and balanced enough to simulate full-sized clubs. Most children's starter sets have a reduced number of clubs, decreasing the club decisions they have to make while learning the game and decreasing the weight of the golf bag. The lowest iron is usually a 6-iron. Most starter-sets will not have a driver, but instead will have the easier-to-hit 3- or 5-wood. A properly sized putter is essential. Measure from slightly above the child's waist to the ground to determine an approximate size for your child's putter. Helpful Links...
